LNG project raises concerns

LNG is a very hazardous material to be shipping through local waters

Regarding the proposed Malahat LNG project, there are a number of things to be concerned about.

LNG is a very hazardous material to be shipping through local waters. There are much stricter rules in place in the U.S. regarding shipping LNG than we have here.

The plant would be cooling natural gas to a liquid which means they would be using water from the Saanich Inlet and likely returning the water to the inlet much warmer, which would have a significant effect on marine life.  Also they would be using fracked gas which is also a problem. Fracking causes water contamination and earthquakes.  We need to be focusing on other kinds of energy.
