Pedestrians, cyclists aren’t careful

It’s time to take a serious look at why pedestrians and bikers get injured. I travel the Lochside Trail on a weekly basis, so I see lots of stupidity by drivers, bikers and people.

But on Thursday, as I was driving home, a man with a little child in a wagon stepped out onto the road without looking. Had I not been driving less than the speed limit, I could have hit him and the child.

Bikers ride double abreast on the bike lane – drivers have to swerve to avoid them at times. Then, you have the walkers on the “bike lane” who simply step out onto the road without looking to see what is coming.

Yesterday, a lady stepped right onto the road, waving to friends. She stopped in the middle of the road and glowered at me when I honked the horn.

Not all drivers are poor. I think you have some very careless people who don’t practise what they preach.

Look before you leap on the roads and step into traffic.
