Janet Gairdner
Janet’s passion for newspapers began in high school writing for her school newspaper. Since then, she has garnered extensive experience in media. As a communications and advertising accredited professional, she has held positions at an advertising agency and in the television industry. She first joined Black Press in 2009 and since that time, she has held the positions of Advertising Consultant, Advertising Director for Boulevard and Monday Magazine and is currently the Publisher of Oak Bay News, Tweed Magazine and Saanich News. Active in the community, Janet has volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Victoria and the Boys and Girls Club, among others. A self-professed foodie, she enjoys reading, gardening and travelling.

Wendy Coleman
Wendy Coleman joined the Saanich News team in March of 2020 coming to us with years of experience from the Victoria News and the Peninsula News Review. Wendy has an extensive background in Marketing & Sales Management. As part of the Executive Leadership team responsible for opening the DoubleTree Hilton hotel in Victoria, her team won Marketing Launch of the Year with Hilton Hotels. She has a strong understanding of multimedia advertising needs for all stages and levels of business. Having been in the the hospitality industry for most of her career, her customer-first approach makes her easy to work with. She is determined to show you how a strategic multimedia advertising mix can help make your good business great.

Glen Butcher
Glen joined the Saanich News team in November of 2020. Having worked for many local businesses in managerial and sales roles he brings a wealth of introspective and creative business solutions to his clients. Originally hailing from Vernon B.C. Glen has spent the last 16 years in Victoria. With a passion for music, he has been writing music since he was five years old and playing bass for 23 years. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time raising his daughter.

Devon Bidal
Devon joined Saanich News in June 2019. She studied Biological Anthropology and Journalism at the University of Victoria and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Devon has known she wanted to be a writer since she was five years old. Originally from Abbotsford, B.C., she remembers many encounters with the reporters from Abbotsford News that sparked her interest in journalism. She found a passion for the work in her teens and never looked back. Her writing has also been published in The Martlet and in the first volume of the Anthology of Social Justice and Intersectional Feminisms.
When she’s not working, Devon enjoys exploring the island with her boyfriend, Sam, and spending time with their hedgehog, Rudy.

Circulation Manager
Laura Cross
Laura relocated from Oahu, Hawaii six years ago and has worked for Black Press for four years. She started out doing part-time auditing, then became the circulation manager for Peninsula News and has since moved to Saanich News where she manages circulation.
