Another smooth running for Self-Transendence Triathlon

Organizers of 35-year-old Elk Lake race honour race director with Torch-bearer Award

Organizers of the 35-year-old Self-Transcendence Triathlon race at Elk Lake marked the day by honouring long-time volunteer race director Ian Phillips with the Sri Chinmoy Peace Run Torch-bearer Award.

The race was created by the Victoria chapter of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, a group of disciples from the local Sri Chinmoy temple.

Phillips’ was approached many years ago to help out with the race and has grown to become an integral person in running the event, which uses a bike route through two communities and demands major planning throughout the year.

The Self-Transcendence Triathlon remains a not-for-profit race.
