Aprill was a winning month for a Saanich gymnastics club.
Thirty athletes representing Falcon Gymnastics claimed a combined total of 45 provincial medals over the course of two competitions — a record.
While establishing this record , the club matched last year’s performance when four of its athletes claimed four provincial all-around championships.
Isobel Neilson (13) and Keira Leibel (10) took the top of the podium in the Junior Olympic 6 category, with Karley Telford (14) and Gabriella Tsui (13) winning their respective age groups in Junior Olympic 7.
The first of the two provincial competitions featuring athletes from Falcon Gymnastics happened April 5-7, when Langley hosted the 2019 BC Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Junior Olympic Compulsory Championships. The second happened a week later in Richmond hosted the Provincial Championships April 12-14.
The club is back in action this coming weekend, when it will compete in the Delta Invitational. The action comes home when the club hosts the Garden City Invitational May 18 and 19, with more than 500 competitors expected.
