There is just no stopping the Westshore Rebels as of late.

After losing 19-15 in their season opener against the Okanagan Sun, the Rebels haven’t lost a game since and they continued that streak with a 57-14 win over the Langley Rams in their playoff opener Saturday.

The home side took a 14-0 lead with 1:03 to go in the first quarter thanks to a touchdown from Nate Skeete but the Rebels weren’t finished there. With 9:54 remaining in the second quarter, Kaine Stevenson added another for the Rebels to make it 21-0.

After the halftime break, the Rebels came out hard on the defensive side of the ball. Brandon Gandire scored a pick-six to make it 28-0, continuing the Rebels’ domination.

But the Rams pushed hard to get on the board and scored with 5:11 left in the third quarter to make it 28-7.

Not to be outdone, Westshore’s Scott Borden added another with 1:40 left in the third quarter to make it 35-7 and the defence stepped up with another big interception with 11:18 remaining in the final frame.

The Rebels added another two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to make it 50-7.

But the game wasn’t finished there, with a little more than two minutes left in the game, the Rebels added a third touchdown, putting Langley on the ropes. But the visitors came out hard, adding a late touchdown to make it 57-14.

The Rebels will take on the Vancouver Island Raiders on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at Westhills Stadium.

The Raiders beat the Okanagan Sun 15-8 on Sunday to advance to the B.C. Football Conference Cullen Cup final.

“I think at the end of the day, they have someone they would prefer to play,” said Rebels head coach Charly Cardilicchia. “It’s not us.”
