VIDEO: Falcon gymnasts shine at Garden City Invitational

Athletes competing for Saanich-based Falcon Gymnastics earned a total of 38 medals during 35th annual Garden City Invitational held Saturday and Sunday at Pearkes Recreation Centre.

The competition drew over 250 athletes from Vanouver Island, the Lower Mainland and Washington state’s Port Angeles for two days of competition. Athletes competed on vault, uneven bards, beam and floor exercise.

Five Falcon Gymnastics athletes placed first for the gold medal all-round in their Olympic levels.

Madison Nguyen (View Royal) earned gold on vault, gold on beam and gold on floor, placing 1st AA with a score of 37.675. Gabriella Tsui (Saanich) earned gold on bars, gold on beam and gold on floor, placing 1st AA with a score of 37.45.

Georgia Schmidt (Langford) earned silver on vault, gold on bars and gold on beam, placing 1st AA with a score of 36.625.

Leonie Solomons (Saanich) earned silver on bars and bronze on floor, placing 1st AA with a score of 35.325.

Inez Verdun (Saanich) earned gold on vault, gold on beam and bronze on floor, placing 1st AA with a score of 36.475.
