Calling all Royal Oak residents; AGM set for Jan. 25

Saanich Coun. Vicki Saunders will lead a talk and the annual financial report and updates to the constitution will be revealed.

If you live in Royal Oak, your neighbourhood’s community association wants to hear from you.

Traffic, redevelopment, community involvement – it’s all up for discussion at the association’s annual general meeting on Jan. 25.

Saanich Coun. Vicki Saunders will lead a talk and the annual financial report and updates to the constitution will be revealed. Members will also elect the 2012 executive. The AGM is good time for new neighbourhood representatives to get involved.

The last year was one of few major issues in the community, said Royal Oak Community Association president Paul Whitworth, noting the proposed recycling depot in Commerce Circle, and the ongoing issue of traffic along Wilkinson Road.

“Traffic is always the topic of the moment,” Whitworth added. “Everybody’s gotta drive somewhere, but nobody wants anyone to drive through their (community) to get there.”

The meeting is set for 7 p.m. in the band room of the Royal Oak middle school.
