The Royal Bay Ravens high school girls lacrosse team brought home a bronze medal after playing a tournament just outside of Las Vegas.
The team played at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nevada and played five games at the Legends Best of the West Lacrosse tournament at the end of February.
The team won their first game 12 - 1 against a team from Brighton, Utah. They also won their second game 9 - 3 against the Duke City Scorpions from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The team lost games three and four of the tournament against the Herriman Lady Mustangs from West Herriman, Utah and the Lady Bulldogs from Las Vegas but qualified for the bronze medal game which they played on Sun. Feb. 24.
The Royal Bay Ravens won the bronze medal game 9 - 2 against Skyline from Salt Lake City, Utah.
“The girls played with great sportsmanship and did an amazing job representing Royal Bay,” said Cathy Kozina, a parent volunteer with Royal Bay lacrosse.
This is Royal Bay Secondary School’s second year with the girls lacrosse academy. It has grown from 13 students in its first year to 25 girls this year.
“We are excited and looking forward to the continued growth and success of the academy and the growth of girls field lacrosse in the West Shore and on the Island,” Kozina said.
