International Education Week comes to UVic

The University of Victoria’s Centre for Global Studies opens its doors this month in celebration of International Education Week.

Speakers include the centre’s director Gordon Smith, a leading expert on the evolution of the G20 and international security and Susan Bazilli, director of the International Women’s Rights Project.

Global Interdependence and You runs Nov. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. at the First Peoples House Ceremonial Hall with the open house to follow from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., room C173, Sedgewick Bulding.

• During International Education Week, from Nov. 14-19, UVic will also focus on Africa. Four girls who are recent high school grads from Africa will speak on supporting education for girls during the For Our Daughters Speaking Tour from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the David Strong Building, room C116. The African Eloquent Youth Celebration follows on Nov. 19, 6-9 p.m., in the David Lam Auditorium. This pageant brings together African youth from Greater Victoria to celebrate their heritage and promote diversity.
