Registered massage therapist Roxanne Derkson is calling for volunteers to do a quick 15-minute training session in time for this weekend's FernFest neighbourhood celebration in Victoria.
Derkson is ultimately raising funds for the Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group, by setting up a tent at the festival on Saturday (June 23) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and offering "affordable" massages for $5 to people who might not be able to otherwise pay full price for a treatment.
Volunteer masseurs can find a training video at www.vivitherapy.com by looking under Massage School, then clicking on Learn to Massage Classes (Free). A final, hands-on training session will be offered on Friday. Call 250-298-4484 for further details.
