What comes to mind when you think of your favourite businesses and hot spots in Victoria? If you could give a shout-out to any of them, who would it be?

Here’s your chance to nominate them and see the best of the best shine.

The 30th edition of the Best of the City awards comes out July 25, and the nomination period runs April 15 (starting at 5 p.m.) til May 10.

With Best of the City, residents can vote for their favourite businesses throughout Greater Victoria in numerous categories. This year there are over 120 categories, ranging from sports and recreation to resorts, and from best Sunday brunch to leisure and shopping.

Black Press Media is excited to add fresh new categories this year: Best Local Podcast, Best Local Influencer, Best Clean Energy Company and Best Place to Play Pickleball.

Also new: No one can see anyone else’s nominations until the voting period, which, unlike last year, takes place separately from May 13-June 8. This gives residents more time to mull over the best.

Does a visit to your dentist make you smile? Is there a local podcast that you can’t stop telling people about? Do you want to gift your favourite brewery public praise? Here’s your chance to support local and help these businesses be recognized. It’s also a chance to applaud the outstanding efforts of hardworking business owners making a difference in Victoria.

If you’re curious to see what the community votes as the best, you can find the top three finalists for each category celebrated in a special July publication you won’t want to miss.

Visit to nominate and vote online on a minimum of 10 categories. Participants will also be entered to win $200 in local business gift cards in the nomination period and again in the voting period.

Nominating ends at midnight on May 10, so don’t wait.
