Ballroom dance competition hits Commonwealth Place
More than 120 of the best ballroom dancers from the Pacific Northwest will strut their stuff at Commonwealth Place this weekend, as the Victoria Ballroom Dance Society hosts the 16th annual Dance Pacifica Ball.
“It’s a very high level competition,” society chair Gary Leitch said about the Canadian Dance Sport Federation-sanctioned event.
Ten dances will be featured: five standards including fox trot, quick step and tango and five Latin, including cha cha and jive.
Among the dancers registered for the event are Ksenia Michtchenko and Adam Li, currently the second-ranked couple in Canada.
Ordinary folks can sit down for dinner and watch the competition for $50.
Spectator tickets for the day are $10.
Both can be purchased at McPherson box office and online at www.rmts.bc.ca.
