Victoria’s First Metropolitan United church marks anti-racism day

Storytelling and song also a part of event this Sunday

First Metropolitan United Church hosts an interfaith service Sunday (March 18) to celebrate International Day for the Elimination of Racism.

Lina de Guevera, the founder of Puente Theatre, will speak to the question: How do we in Victoria welcome newcomers to Canada?

She also represents the Victoria Inter-cultural Association, located on the church’s first level. The association’s youth group’s new video “Say No to Racism” also will be featured. Performing guests include the Vic Mexico Dancers, Punjabi Cultural School and Wontanara Drum and Dance Group.

Later in the afternoon, the church hosts storytelling and songs to mark World Storytelling Day.

The service begins at 10:45 a.m. and the storytelling events start at 2 p.m.
