Metchosin man charged for careless firearm use

Suspect remains in custody and will appear in court on Feb. 28

A man was arrested for multiple alleged firearm offences in Metchosin on the evening of Feb. 21.

West Shore RCMP and the Emergency Response Team officers responded to a report of a man unsafely discharging a firearm inside a home near the 4600-block of Sooke Road.

Officers surrounded the home before arresting and charging a Metchosin man for careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order and uttering threats. The 48-year-old suspect was taken into custody safely and without incident, police said.

Officers executed a search warrant on the residence, where they located and seized firearms and ammunition.

The 48-year-old remains in custody and appears in court on Feb. 28.
