The public is being invited to an information session on plans to improve transit and active transportation around Ravine Way in Saanich.

The May 1 session will see transportation ministry staff present designs for Ravine Way, between Highway 1 and Vernon Avenue.

“This area will play an important role in the future of the transit-oriented commitments made recently by the province near Saanich’s Uptown district,” the transportation ministry said Wednesday (April 23).

In early April, the province announced that it bought two properties in the Uptown area that will be a part of a transit-oriented development with hundreds of new homes, community amenities and a hub for buses.

The information session will share design concepts and seek feedback on plans to increase transit infrastructure, support transit-oriented development, promote active transportation, improve connections between travel modes and enhance movement for people travelling by bus, foot, bicycle, wheelchair or scooter.

The session runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 1 at Cedar Hill Golf Course (1400 Derby Rd.).
