The Royal BC Museum has brought back Community Days with admission by donation.

The event began Tuesday (Jan. 2) and ends on Thursday and is a longstanding tradition.

Donations throughout Community Days help fund the museum’s operations including conserving artifacts, creating online learning programs and events, collecting specimens from B.C.’s alpine meadows and coastal waters, digitizing historical photographs and more.

Guests don’t have much time left to see the two feature exhibitions at the museum.

The “Sue the T. rex” exhibit closes on Sunday and features what the museum calls the most complete and best-preserved tyrannosaurus rex ever found.

The Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia exhibit runs until Jan. 14. Visitors can see 120 unique artifacts from ancient Angkor and learn about the Khmer culture.

IMAX Victoria screenings will be a regular admission during Community Days.

From Tuesday (Jan. 2) until Saturday, the Royal BC Museum is also participating in Letter Writing Week.

The letter-writing station will be on the third floor mezzanine from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will include paper, pens, envelopes and stamps.
