A suspect has been charged in relation to an alleged stabbing on March 31 in Victoria that left a victim with life-threatening injuries and spurred a homicide investigation.

The early morning incident in the 700-block of Pandora Avenue left one person dead, while the second victim had to be taken to the hospital because of their injuries.

Robert Travers was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of aggravated assault against the second victim, Victoria police said on Tuesday (April 2). That VicPD update on the case added officers found one man dead and the second victim after arriving at the scene within minutes of the approximately 4 a.m. incident.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the death. VicPD’s Tuesday news release called that fatality a “suspected homicide,” a term that was not mentioned in the department’s initial release on Sunday.
