Black ice responsible for at least three accidents in Saanich

Saanich police tell drivers to be cautious and aware of road conditions

Saanich police are asking drivers to be extra cautions on their morning commutes due to black ice on local roads that has already caused at least three accidents.

They have occurred at Sayward Road and Hunt Hunt Rd, Roy Road and Carey Road, and the 4900 block Old West Saanich Road, Cst. Kris Dukeshire of the Saanich Police Department said.

"Officers are...at the scenes as we speak and I believe the municipality is responding as well, if not already on scene, to lay salt," said Dukeshire.

“Fortunately, there have no injuries nor road closures related to these accidents,” he said earlier.  Drivers, he said, should drive according to the road condition in being extra cautious.
