Dancin' in the street leads to ecstasy bust

He was callin' out around the world and was ready for a brand new beat. But Saanich police were also called about a man, dancing in the street last Friday morning.

Around 7:30 a.m., April 1, police were called to Pomona Way near Grandview Drive in Gordon Head. Witnesses reported a man was dancing in the street and lying down in the middle of the road.

Officers arrived and found the man lying across the front seats of his silver BMW, parked on the road, with his feet hanging out the window.

Police officers suspected the man was under the influence of something and conducted a physical assessment of him. A search was conducted on his vehicle and officers discovered 48 ecstasy tablets under the driver's seat.

Joel Toevs, a 31-year-old Saanich man, faces one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was also found to be breaching a conditional sentence order and remains in custody.
