A fatal motorcycle crash in the Comox Valley has claimed the life of a 29-year-old man.

Around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday (July 11), Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a motorcycle crash on the Comox Logging Road near the Island Highway overpass.

Despite the efforts of first responders, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. In a release, Comox Valley RCMP notes the investigation is continuing, however, it appears that speed may have been a factor in the collision.

Courtenay Fire Department deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Welsh said 14 firefighters attended along with paramedics and members of the Comox Valley RCMP.

The BC Coroner’s Service and an investigator from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstructions Services also attended the scene.

Anyone with information related to the collision is asked to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321.
