Firefighters helped rescue a construction worker 100 feet in the air.
A Langford Fire Rescue member climbed up a tower crane, with Colwood Fire sending two more approximately 20 feet out and 100 feet in the air on a ladder truck to attend to the operator of a tower crane experiencing a medical issue.

“We set up with the rope team for an extraction, and given the height and proximity to the road, I requested to bring in an aerial device to the scene,” said Langford Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Scott Davidson. “With the combination of the aerial device and the rope team we assisted and got him into the ladder truck.”

Langford Fire Rescue got the call to a construction site near Reunion Avenue and Jacklin Road just before 8 a.m. and the construction worker was brought down from the crane and was sent into the care of BC Ambulance in under 10 minutes.
“He was conscious and talking and we handed him over to B.C. Ambulance. It was not a psychiatric thing,” Davidson continued. “He was supposed to be there. It was the operator.”
