Saanich Police are investigating an altercation at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Center that sent an inmate to hospital.
The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. on Monday and involved several inmates, said Saanich Police Sgt. Steve Eassie.
Two inmates that suffered less serious injuries and were treated at the correctional facility, Eassie said.
Detectives from the Saanich Police General Investigation Section will conduct an investigation, which is still in its early stages, Eassie said.
