A loud bang at her front entrance startled a homeowner early Saturday morning.
Oak Bay Police Department is investigating after a resident in the 1600-block of Hampshire Road heard the noise Jan. 8 at 2 a.m., but didn’t see any damage. In the light of morning, she saw the door frame splintered, causing about $500 in damage. A dirt mark on the lower front door indicates someone tried to kick it in.
No insurance costs nearly $600
An officer spotted an expired insurance decal and followed the driver home on King George Terrace on Jan. 4.
Police records confirmed the insurance was expired and the officer issued a ticket to the registered owner. The fine for no insurance is $598.
Unlocked car, no theft
Saturday, Jan. 8, Oak Bay police received a report someone had entered an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of King George Terrace. The vehicle was parked on the street and nothing was reported stolen.
