Saanich police investigate targeted home invasion

Three masked suspects used bear spray on man and woman, both in their 20s, police say

Saanich Police detectives are investigating a targeted home invasion that took place Wednesday night in the 500-block of Judah St.

Around 9:45 p.m., police arrived to discover two residents who said they'd been the victims of a home invasion. The occupants had been pepper sprayed by three masked suspects, said Saanich police Staff Sgt. Murray Mashford.

"This appears to be a targeted home invasion and not a random one," Mashford said.

The two people inside the residence, a male and female both in their 20s, were treated at the scene for the effects of bear spray.

"Given the targeted nature of this home invasion, Saanich police are not issuing any type of warning to area residents," Mashford said.

Anyone who may have relevant information that can assist detectives are urged to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers 250-386-TIPS.
