In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father John Erik Bings.
Erik peacefully departed from this world on Monday, June 19th at home, surrounded by his loving children.
Born in Victoria in 1935, Erik met his future wife Patricia (Walters) in the fishing village of Kyuquot where he was raised by his parents Arthur Bings and Ingeborg Dohlmann.
A life spent as a commercial fisherman on the west coast of Vancouver Island, "Bingsy" was loved and respected by all as a gentle giant of a man.
Predeceased by his wife Pat, Erik leaves behind his children Denise (Adrian), Daniel, Demi (Dan) and Brian. Also left to mourn are his 8 grandchildren (Erik, Elyse, Liam, James, Paighton, Lauren, Amy, Emily) and two great grandchildren (Leland and Maren).
A celebration of his life will be held at Erik's home in September.
