I was disappointed that the front page on the Nov. 30 edition of the Saanich News highlighted the “Seasons Beatings” event.
Our neighbourhood was plastered with posters on every telephone pole, though thankfully, most of these disappeared soon after. I really object to this event riding on the coattails of the Christmas period. It wraps this event up in tinsel and Christmas trees when it is in fact an exhibition of violence.
I know that Saanich Parks and Recreation would have little grounds to forbid this event, and the element in our community who attend these events must have their fill, I just think the poster and the PR is in very bad taste and regrettable.
