Green Party’s stance correct

The resolution passed by the federal Green Party supports the revoking of charitable status currently held by the Jewish National Fund

The resolution passed by the federal Green Party supports the revoking of charitable status currently held by the JNF (Jewish National Fund) Canada, as the current trend by Israel towards the expansion of settlements in occupied lands is being fuelled largely by private NGOs (such as the JNF).

This expansionism displaces Palestinians, and claims the most desirable parts of the occupied lands. Such a policy simply adds fuel to the current tensions in the Middle East between Israel and its neighbours. As such, the JNF is not really a charity in the original sense of the word, and its status as such should be revoked in Canada, as its tax exemptions mean that Canadians are indirectly funding this source of tension.

As much as I admire Elizabeth May, I cannot share her stand in this matter, unless there are undercurrents at play that I am not aware of.
