LETTER: Funding issues swept under the rug

As a continuing funder of the public school system and with children as (potentially) future users, is it not a little scary that a philanthropist is vacuuming our school carpets? ( Company steps in to clean school carpets , Saanich News Jan. 5)

You and I just paid $23.3 million to Westhills Development Corp. for bare land and a potentially new school. At this rate, let us call that $100 million for 1,000 new students by the time the school is built and staffed and debt serviced.

My hat is off to the GVTA if they can then entice Stephen Roberts to continue pro bono.
