The Peninsula Panthers were the victors in round one of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League Playoffs.
After winning three games straight over their rivals in round one, the Oceanside Generals, the Panthers dropped two games last week, resulting in a 3-2 count for the local team.
For Game 6 on Friday, March 2, the Panthers won 3-2 in front of the home crowd at Panorama Recreation Centre, clinching the W for the first series.
Midget call-up Stephen Heslop manned the goal while Joe Densmore, Jake Bryan and David Stephens chalked up points with goals against the Generals.
The Panthers now play the Saanich Braves for round two, likely to start Monday, March 5 at Pearkes Recreation Centre.
