A core of Claremont secondary school students helped the Victoria Intermediate A Shamrocks win gold at the B.C. Intermediate A Lacrosse League provincial championships over the B.C. Day weekend.
The Shamrocks opened the three-game round robin with a 9-7 loss to the Coquitlam Adanacs but rebounded with a 9-4 win over the New Westminster Salmonbellies, and an 18-7 win over the Langley Thunder, to set up a spot in the final. The offence was strong again in the final, beating New West 14-7 for gold.
Among the Claremont contingent on the Shamrocks are captain Marshal King (Drexel University 2015), as well as the provincial high school MVP Brad McCulley (Robert Morris University/2016), and defender David Byrne (Drexel University 2015).
